NFL 2025 season: Week six

Live coverage features live text for Sunday's games on multiple platforms, starting with Denver Broncos v New York Jets in London (kicking off at 2 PM BST). Additionally, radio commentary can be heard on designated networks covering another key matchup (from 21:00 BST).

We're in the sixth week of the football calendar , after recent discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles as possible championship contenders, each surrendered their unbeaten records.

Striking during those contests were the amount of penalties each committed. The Eagles committed them at crucial times meaning they essentially defeated themselves having led 17-3 entering the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, who play overseas this Sunday.

However it was positive to see that Denver's QB Bo Nix managed to have that deficit before direct three successful possessions on three possessions in the fourth quarter, securing the game 21-17.

Denver boast the top defender with cornerback Pat Surtain II. They rank first in goal-line defense, whereas the Eagles lead the league in red zone offence, yet the Broncos won that battle.

They executed the Eagles' number regarding simulated pressure. They did not necessarily rushing extra pass rushers instead they could plug two LBs in the 'A' gap then drop them out and dispatch a nickel off the edge.

Early on in the campaign, it was noted on a program that Denver could be the current year's surprise contenders. They finished last season strongly then excelled of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this season's underdog story?

Recently acquired TE their tight end has excelled big and new running back JK Dobbins is a guy the team trusts. He's currently 5th in the NFL for rushing yards (over 400) as well as tied for fourth in rushing scores (4).

It's impressive that head coach Sean Payton has "RUN IT!" prominently on his call sheet.

That shows that the Broncos represent a team that wants to run first, because you can achieve much based on that approach. It reduces down the pass rush and keeps you in positive situations.

It's also helped quarterback the young passer, who came into the league as the 12th overall draft pick last year, throwing 29 TDs – second only to a star QB in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert have the arm strength to pass all over, but they don't move the mobility that Nix has. He has incredible passing ability, a unique trait, and he is so athletic.

His assets include his movement, the capacity to pass on the run, as well as finding different arm angles to make the pass when he rolls out of the pocket, on rollouts. He can deliver that layered pass across the middle and over the corner.

As a rookie QB, aged 25, he displays great poise in the pocket and isn't really fazed by the blitz. He tries to avoid being tackled whenever possible and can throw in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and is very decisive.

If you consistently run the ball it consumes the clock and makes the defence to be in play extended periods, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defense must defend the area vertically and horizontally. It can be draining.

The quarterback has pushed back at Payton on the sideline at times and it seems the coach likes that fire, that he's such a competitor. In my view it's exciting for the coach to coach a rookie QB that is kind of like moldable clay. The coach can really build something up how he desires to build it. I think it's a special experience for him.

Payton has won a championship and now surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen it all. I think the achievements the Broncos are having on offence is mostly down to his leadership, his schemes, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix aids make him into who he is.

You wouldn't want a better guy guiding you, to help you through some of the tougher situations and boost confidence.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet are they strong enough to go against an elite team at its best? Because that was not a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia in their last game.

Right now, I don't think Denver are incredible. They're working above average, which is a good place to be in their division. All they need is is maintain this path.

They're really good at embracing their forte, which is the ground game, and this is exactly what they should do versus the New York Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, essentially.

The Jets have surrendered 140 yards on the ground per game (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (10th worst), and they're the sole squad without a win any game.

Since the league started recording turnovers in 1933, the Jets are also the inaugural squad to go without any turnovers in five outings, which is kind of shocking when you think that their new coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator with another team.

The Chiefs' QB stated the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' after Monday's defeat to Jacksonville.

After the upcoming matchup, Denver have a manageable slate up to their break (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, the Texans plus the Raiders before the Chiefs.

In the AFC West, the Chiefs hold a losing record while Denver are tied with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 so they could challenge for the top of the division.

It depends upon what version of the Chiefs they meet since the Broncos {beat|def
