Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Vehicles, walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers state they were alerted late on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been applied in the pattern of a swastika, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other marked automobiles and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are illegal in Germany under regulations banning the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials report early analysis show the liquid was likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; officials are presently not informed of any physical harm in association with the incident," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for information.
An important official commented the incident left him stunned and required to be addressed rapidly.
"This incident strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the trauma of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he posted on online, referring to the murder of nine individuals by a shooter aiming at individuals of migrant background in February 2020.
