Ukrainian authorities have declared the start of mass production for an innovative domestically developed defensive UAV to enhance its aerial protection systems. The first three manufacturers have begun manufacturing, with an additional eleven preparing to establish assembly lines, the defence ministry announced this past Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Tested in Battlefield Situations

The drones utilize a domestically developed technology known as “Octopus” designed to neutralize Shahed drones. The system underwent testing in actual battle and proved successful “at night, amid electronic warfare and flying low,” officials confirmed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established an ambitious goal of producing up to 1,000 defensive drones each day.

Latest Assault on the Capital Described as Calculated

The Ukrainian president characterized Moscow's most recent assault on Ukraine as “deliberate, premeditated and brutal” following six people lost their lives and many others injured in a series of night-time strikes throughout Kyiv. Air raid sirens sounded in the capital just after midnight this past Friday, with enemy UAVs soon detected overhead and heavy machine-gun fire from Ukrainian air defences.

The president stated the country was hit by hundreds of UAVs and 18 missiles. Those killed were at home in a block of flats on Kyiv’s left bank during the strike. Numerous of other buildings were damaged, among them the Azerbaijani embassy.

Diplomatic Objection Following Diplomatic Compound Damage

The Azerbaijani government said it delivered a formal objection to the Russian ambassador this past Friday after the destruction at its diplomatic compound. The blast from a Moscow's missile destroyed part of the embassy’s perimeter wall and resulted in serious damage to the embassy grounds, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry reported. Moscow plans to manufacture as many as 120,000 guided aerial bombs this year, a high-ranking Ukrainian defense official said, including 500 of an innovative, longer-range version that can reach additional urban centers. Russian forces have been launching 200 to 250 aerial bombs daily, with the previous month's daily average standing at about 170, according to official military statistics.

Kyiv's Attacks Focus on Russian Energy Infrastructure

Russia’s Black Sea port of Novorossiysk temporarily suspended crude shipments this past Friday – representing two percent of global supply – following a Ukrainian missile and drone attack. Ukraine’s general staff stated its forces had launched Neptune cruise missiles and deployed various types of strike drones in the assault against Novorossiysk “within the framework of efforts to reduce the military and economic potential of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukrainian forces separately targeted a processing plant in the Saratov area and an energy depot in the adjacent Engels region overnight.

International Restrictions Impact Moscow's Oil Producer

The number two energy company Lukoil announced this past Friday it has been in talks with potential buyers concerning its international holdings following last month’s sanctions from the UK and the US and failure of an agreement with commodity trader Gunvor. “The specific deal will be announced once the final agreements have been reached and the necessary regulatory approvals are secured,” Lukoil commented.

Zelenskyy Plans Visit to Spanish Capital

Volodymyr Zelenskyy is scheduled to travel to the city of Madrid, Madrid, on Tuesday to meet with lawmakers following his visit to Paris, Spanish parliamentary officials announced. The Ukrainian president will convene with deputies from all houses of parliament during his visit, an official announcement confirmed.
