Netflix Chooses Perfect Star for Bon Clay in the Hit Series Upcoming Installment

The Secret Organization is poised to make a major impact in Netflix’s upcoming season of One Piece, though the true confrontation isn’t set to occur until season 3, and a cherished, popular member has just been cast.

The platform declared Tuesday that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece season 3 cast and will play Bon Clay. Bon Clay has the ability to change into an exact copy of any individual they’ve made contact with with their main hand. Escola, who is non-binary and prefers they/them pronouns, will depict a version of that figure reinterpreted as non-binary, instead of as a drag queen, in the real-life adaptation, as in the source material and anime.

Escola is joined by multiple new cast members set to bring the group to the screen, including head Sir Crocodile, brought to life by the seasoned performer, an emerging star as another operative, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who will appear as the cast as King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta.

Although Bon Clay is a major member of the organization, the persona will be introduced in One Piece the third season. Considering the next season likely to portray the Little Garden segment, this marks a significant shift in the placement of their first appearance, one that could indicate more adjustments to the plot development.

Escola’s blend of sharp comedic timing and deep sensitivity makes them a ideal selection for the character. In addition to their current animated role in the animated feature Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and numerous honors for writing and starring in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, highlighting the range they’ll add to one of One Piece’s most celebrated roles.

The platform’s adapted One Piece show is set to return for its next installment on March 10th, 2026.
