Former Physician Accused of Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients

Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor stands accused of committing assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Allegations

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of sexual offences – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

The Investigation

These allegations follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
